Care at Lugano
Our elegant dining room at Lugano Care Home
At Lugano, our main purpose is to provide consistently high standards of professional care in order that those we care for can live as normally as possible, their individuality, independence and dignity being respected and upheld. We provide residential care for elderly people within a safe, homely and caring environment.
Our Services
We can currently cater for 24 service users over the age of 65, both male and female including those with dementia. Both state funded and private fee paying residents are welcome. A small proportion of service users at our Buckhurst Hill care home may be diabetic with basic nursing requirements. However, we are not a registered nursing home and as such cannot offer full time nursing care, although we use full district nurse support services and individually tailor care plans. Our current service user group does not include anyone with special religious, cultural or linguistic needs. However, we are open to offering such services, provided that assessment procedures demonstrate that we would be able to provide them. Religious attendance for external services is possible for some service users, with certain denominations offering a collection service. All current denominations are catered for with a Minister, Priest and Rabbi visiting Lugano Care Home on a periodic basis to hold services, religious festivals and to take Holy Communion and all are welcome.
Individual Care Plans
Prior to and upon admission to Lugano Care Home, service users can expect a full assessment of their needs and a Care Plan drawn up. Individual care plans are written to assist with the care process. Where possible they are compiled with full consultation with service users concerned and/or their relatives. Relatives wishing to be involved in monthly care plan reviews should discuss the matter with their relative (resident of Lugano) and with the Manager, Stephanie Mirams. Monthly reviews are conducted with the service user, our Care Planning & Mapping Manager and other care professionals, for example, social workers. If a care plan needs an urgent update this may be conducted by senior care staff and the service user and the Manager will always be notified.
Where a Resident is unable to advocate for themselves, we aim to use an external advocacy service, to provide impartial input into their needs and requirements.
